Queensland dog events in May

May is just around corner and even though it’s cooling down, there are loads of great opportunities to get out and about with your pooch in QLD during May.

Million Paws Walk 2011
On Sunday 15th May the RSPCA will hold it’s annual Million Paws Walk. In QLD alone, RSPCA Qld will be hosting walks at over 20 locations around the state including a new location for the Brisbane walk at the Murrarie Recreation Reserve.

On the day you can take part in a 1.5km or 3km walk, mingle with other pet owners, take part in competitions, check out the exhibitor stalls and watch the animal demonstrations. There is always plenty of food, drink and entertainment to make it a great day out.

You can register online before the event or register on the day. Funds raised through walk registrations and online fundraising goes towards vital programs, services and campaigns undertaken by the RSPCA, as well as looking after the animals in their care.

BENEFUL Bark in the Park
BENEFUL Bark in the Park is back again in 2011.  The QLD event will be held on Saturday 21 May at Roma Street Parklands, Brisbane between 10am and 2pm.

It’s a free day out for dogs and their owners, giving you a great opportunity to connect with other dog lovers. You can also take part in activities including dog washing and grooming, caricatures, behavioural training and advice, competitions for you and your pooch including Owner & Pet Look Alike. To find out more and to RSVP to the event, visit them on Facebook.

K-9 Capers – Boondall
The Brisbane City Council K-9 Capers events continue in 2011. The events are run by the council on a monthly basis in dog off-leash parks around Brisbane and aim to promote responsible pet ownership.

There is an event scheduled for 29 May at 1:30 at Northumbria Rd Park, College Way Boondall.

The event runs for 3 hours and includes activities based on basic obedience, agility and fun. The RSPCA’s Animal Training and Behaviour Centre will also be there to demonstrate dog obedience and agility.

You can find out more about this event and others scheduled for the coming months on the Brisbane City Countil website.

Have a great month!
